K-19

Inspired by a real-life event that took place in the North Atlantic in 1961, the film chronicles the heroism of Captain Alexei Vostrikov who, at the height of the Cold War, is ordered to replace Captain Mikhail Polenin in command of the nuclear submarine K19, to take on an exercise designed to demonstrate to the Americans how powerful the Soviet Union’s weaponry is.
